InnomarLive 2020 - Patient Support Programs: Today, Tomorrow and the Future
Due to the complexity of specialty
medications and the diseases they treat, there are needs for enhanced
management, including patient education, administration, diagnostics,
monitoring, and specialty logistics support services. However, the Canadian healthcare
system is not equipped to provide the support that many patients need to gain
access to reimbursement and drug delivery of a specialty medication, or the
ongoing support and monitoring often required to improve clinical outcomes. Patient Support Programs (PSPs) were created
to work in tandem within the healthcare system and clinicians to fill the gaps
in these patients’ disease management needs and during this time in healthcare,
they are even more critical.
